Choosing a New Water Heater
The first step in water heater installation and replacement is the selection of a new system for your home. There are a few decisions to make, the first of which is whether you want a tank or a tankless water heater.
Tank water heaters are the type of water heater most people are used to having. A tank with a specified capacity – usually between 15 and 60 gallons – heats and holds water for your future use. As a result you have hot water whenever you need it up to that volume. There are drawbacks of course. You pay to heat water constantly even when you don’t need it. You can also run out of hot water if you exceed the capacity of your tank at any given time, such as when you have guests. They are inexpensive to install but costly to run.
Tankless water heaters on the other hand only heat water when you need it. They are installed on the water lines going to your fixtures and turn on when you open the hot water valve on a sink or shower. You use less energy to heat your water as a result, though you may be forced to wait a few seconds for the water to heat up
Water Heater Installation Process
Once you select the type of system you want and we size a new system to match the average hot water needs of your family, one of our water heater installation and replacement experts can start the installation process.
If you are replacing a tank model, we will first need to remove the old water heater and inspect all connections. The gas and water supply will be turned off during this process for safety as well, so it is best if you have it scheduled for a time when you can be out of the house. For tank models installation takes less than a day, but for tankless models, depending on the size of your home and the number of hot water using fixtures, it can take up to two days for installation to be completed
